8.24.3. The vacuum pump of cars with diesel engines

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arrangement of the vacuum pump on diesel engines of 2,0 l

Arrangement of a nut of fastening of a vacuum hose to the vacuum pump on diesel engines of 2,0 l

Arrangement of the vacuum pump on the generator in diesel engines of 1,7 l

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On diesel engines of 1,7 l the vacuum pump is fixed on the generator of an alternating current, and on diesel engines of 2,0 l the pump is attached by bolts to a head of the block of cylinders.
2. On cars with engines of 1,7 l lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports.
3. Unscrew a vacuum hose from the vacuum pump.
4. On engines of 1,7 l unscrew a connecting nut and remove a pipe of supply of oil to the pump.

5. Weaken a collar and remove a pipe of return of oil from the vacuum pump.
6. Unscrew bolts and remove the vacuum pump.
7. Remove a sealing ring of round section (shooter) from the generator on engines of 1,7 l or from a flute in the pump on engines of 2,0 l.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Before installation of the vacuum pump on the engine of 1,7 l via the union of supply of oil fill in in the pump 5 of cm3 of w of oil.

Check

Operability of the vacuum pump of brake system can check, using the vacuum gage.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a vacuum pipe from the pump and instead of it connect the vacuum gage.
2. Start the engine in an idling mode. Measure the vacuum created by the pump. After 1 minute of operation of the engine the vacuum should make about 500 mm Hg. If the vacuum created by the pump does not correspond to demanded data, replace the pump completely since spare parts to the pump are not delivered.
