Repair and car operation

After engine start before inclusion of one of steps to press a pedal of a foot brake. Otherwise the car will start to "creep". Never to press at the same time pedals of an accelerator and a foot brake.

Having chosen as a control lever a step of D, you switched a transmission to an economic mode of movement. It is possible to go by a step of D practically always.

By soft pressing a pedal of an accelerator there is an early switching on transfers to economical fuel consumption. Manual switching of steps is necessary only in exceptional cases. To choose 3, 2 and 1 follows only when it is necessary to avoid switching on higher transfer or additional braking by means of the engine is required.

As soon as the road situation, again to choose D allows.

Automatic transmission

Provision of a control lever by an automatic transmission of R, R and N

R = parking. Forward wheels are blocked. Transfer only at the motionless car and the switched-on hand parking brake.

R= backing. To include only at the motionless car.

N= neutral situation or idling.

The control lever an automatic transmission can be deduced from situation P only at the included ignition and the pressed pedal of a foot brake.

The engine can be started only in situation P or N. At start in situation N to press a pedal of a foot brake or to turn on the hand parking brake.

During switching of steps not to press an accelerator pedal.

Step of D

D= continuous situation for normal traffic conditions on transfers with 1 on 4.

After engine and inclusion start the D transmission always works in a mode of economic driving.

Step 3

3= situation for traffic conditions on transfers 1, 2 and 3.

Step 2

2= situation for movement on the 1st and 2nd transfers, e.g., on a mountain serpentine; thus there is no switching on the 3rd and 4th transfers.

Step 1

1= a loading step for the maximum brake effort, e.g., on abrupt descents; there is no switching above the 1st transfer.

Driving modes with electronic control

The sports mode of driving, box switches transfers at higher frequencies of rotation of a shaft of the engine:
to press the button S (burns).

The economic mode, box switches transfers at lower frequencies of rotation of a shaft of the engine: to press the button S repeatedly.

The help at a troganiye from a place: to press the button.

Engines X of 18 HE, X 20XEV.X 25 XE1: the machine gun of inclusion of neutral situation automatically transfers a transmission to situation N for fuel consumption reduction, e.g., during stops on traffic lights. Automatic switching in neutral situation is carried out, if:

 – the control lever an automatic transmission is in situation D, 3, 2 or 1 and
 – the pedal of a foot brake is pressed and
 – the car is motionless and
 – there is no pressing an accelerator pedal.

As soon as the brake is released or the accelerator pedal is pressed, the car begins as usual movement.

After start of the cold engine the program of management in working temperature quickly leads up catalyst temperature to the value necessary for optimum reduction of the content of toxic substances in fulfilled gases, by a gear shifting delay (at higher frequencies of rotation of a shaft of the engine).

Adaptive programs are programs which automatically adapt gear shifting for traffic conditions, for example, when towing trailer, at big loading and on liftings.

The help at a troganiye from a place

At difficulties on slippery roads for a troganiye from a place to press the button, R, N, D, 3 (an inclusion signaling device–) joins in R. The car will get under way on the 3rd transfer.

The help at a troganiye from a place is switched off by repeated pressing the button.

Besides, switching off by a way is possible:

 – manual choice of steps 2 or 1;
 – ignition switching off.

Kickdown – sharp pressing against the stop on an accelerator pedal

Pressing of a pedal of an accelerator against the stop: at speed below a certain value the box is switched to lower transfer. It is applied to acceleration with use of full capacity of the engine.

Additional braking by the engine

For use of brake functions of the engine at descent in due time to include 3, 2 or if that is demanded by a situation, 1.

Brake action at a step 1 is especially effective. If it is included at too high speed 1, the box will continue to work at the 2nd transfer until the point of transition to the 1st transfer at the expense of, for example, braking will be reached.

Stop

The included step at a stop with working engine can be kept.

At a stop on slopes it is obligatory to involve the hand parking brake or to press a pedal of a foot brake. For prevention of an overheat of a transmission it is not necessary to hold on the included transfer the car on a place by increase of frequency of rotation of a shaft of the engine.

At long parking, for example, in jams or on a railway crossing to stop the engine.

Before an exit from the car at first to turn on the hand parking brake, then to switch to R and to take out the ignition key.

The ignition key is taken from the ignition lock only at control lever installation by a transmission in situation P.

"Rocking"

To shake got stuck in sand, dirt, snow or in a ditch the car for its further advance, it is possible to switch at slightly pressed pedal of an accelerator a control lever between D and R. To hold frequency of rotation of a shaft of the engine as it is possible below and to avoid sharp pressing an accelerator pedal.

The way described above to apply only in exceptional cases.

Exact maneuvering

For exact maneuvering, for example, at car installation on parking, arrival in garage, etc., it is possible to use in the way "crawling" by holiday of a pedal of a foot brake.

Not to press at all at the same time a pedal of an accelerator and a foot brake.

Malfunction

The signaling device burns at the included ignition. If it does not go out after start of the engine or lights up during movement, takes place to be malfunction of an automatic transmission.

In case of car equipment by the Multi-lnfo-display, on the display the message on malfunction of "Automatik Getriebe" ("An automatic transmission") is deduced.

The transmission is not switched any more automatically.
It is possible to continue movement. To switch transfers 1, 3 and 4 manually by means of a control lever a transmission:

1= 1st transfer,
2= 3rd transfer,
3= 4th transfer,
D= 4th transfer,
N= neutral (idling),
R= backing,
R = parking.

Power supply violation

Power supply violation, for example, in case of the discharged battery room of the battery. At violation of power supply the control lever conclusion an automatic transmission from situation P is impossible.

1. To turn on the hand parking brake.
2. A cover on an acting part of a floor between forward seats to lift and turn on 90 ° to the right.
3. To press by means of a screw-driver a doggie forward and to deduce a control lever an automatic transmission from situation P.
4. A cover on an acting part of a floor between forward seats to establish on a place and to fix.

Repeated transfer to situation P again will lead to lever blocking. It is necessary to eliminate a cause of infringement of power supply in authorized masterful firms Opel.
