3.3.11. Check and adjustment of gaps of valves

GENERAL INFORMATION

Check of gaps of valves is necessary for making after emergence of knock of valves, major maintenance of the engine or at engine capacity reduction. Check and adjustment make on the cold engine.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Tighten the hand brake, lift a forward part of the car and remove the right forward wheel.
2. Uncover heads of the block of cylinders.
3. Turn a cranked shaft for a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft clockwise while the adjusting label on a pulley of a cranked shaft will not be combined with the index on the case of the oil pump. For simplification of a provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft unscrew fuel nozzles.
4. Check that cams of the first cylinder of a camshaft are directed up. If cams are directed down, turn a cranked shaft on one complete revolution.
5. Draw the scheme of the engine and number cylinders from 1 to 4. The N1 cylinder is from a gear belt. Note position of each valve together with a valve gap. At check of gaps of valves the cam of the checked valve should be directed up.
6. If all gaps are in demanded limits, establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders, establish a wheel and lower the car. If actually the gap does not correspond to norm, it is necessary to make adjustment.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Rotate a pulley of a cranked shaft until the cam of the valve which will be necessary be not to adjusting is directed up.
2. Turn a pusher glass so that the flute on the top edge of a pusher was not directed to a forward part of the engine.
3. Establish a screw-driver edge between an edge of a glass of a pusher and the basis of a camshaft and move a pusher glass down so that it was possible to take laying from a pusher glass.
4. Clear adjusting laying and measure its thickness by a micrometer.
5. Add the measured gap of the valve to thickness of initial adjusting laying then from the received number take away a demanded klapanny gap. As a result you receive thickness of new demanded adjusting laying.
For example.
The measured gap of the valve of 0,35 mm.
Plus thickness of initial adjusting laying of 2,7 mm.
Equally 3,05 mm.
Minus a demanded gap of 0,25 mm.
The demanded thickness of laying of 2,8 mm.
6. Take adjusting laying of the demanded thickness, grease it with pure engine oil and insert into a pusher glass that designation of thickness of adjusting laying was directed down.
7. Similarly adjust gaps of valves on other valves.
8. Several times turn a cranked shaft of the engine and repeatedly measure gaps of valves.
9. Establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders, establish a wheel and lower the car.
